I help individuals and families with busy lifestyles learn how to eat healthy on a budget- who doesn’t want to save money?! I am passionate about enhancing the health, physical performance, and lifestyle of my clients by providing a holistic approach to nutrition counseling. I counsel a variety of clients with or without health conditions –from heart healthy eating and weight management, to pregnancy, lactation, and digestive health. I am particularly passionate about nutrition for athletic performance and family nutrition (infant feeding, picky eating, and meal planning).
I am all about helping my clients build a healthy relationship with food. I go by the 80/20 rule: most of the time my diet will consist of whole grains, fruits, vegetables, and healthy fats, but 20% of the time I’m going to have sweet and salty snacks and will truly savour them! Going to a birthday party and not having a piece of cake? No thank you.
I am not a fan of cookie-cutter approaches to nutrition. I tailor my nutrition recommendations to meet the unique needs of my clients to help them adopt a healthy lifestyle and reach their goals.
What people are saying:
I would like to say that my experience at A Little Nutrition could not have been better. Madelaine’s approach was so positive and empowering I always felt like I could make progress..and I did! I have come a really long way in letting go of the diet mentality and am getting to a healthier weight in the process. Anyone who has struggled with their eating and relationship with food would benefit greatly from this program. Thank you so much. It has literally changed my life. – Sarah Lugtig ~Winnipeg
I finished the last session of the nutritional counselling package, that I initially signed up for, and at that time Madelaine and I were going over my accomplishments to date, things not yet accomplished and strategies to meet my goals and I told her that my success to that date (I’d lost 20 pounds since starting to see her by utilizing the changes we discussed and the information she has given me) was basically down to her. In my lifetime I had attempted seeing dietician’s twice before with no success.
Madelaine is such a lovely person and I knew from the first appointment that this was going to work. She has a way of explaining things so that I can really absorb what she’s saying and she really listens to what you are saying and gives great feedback. With her help, I’m on the road to healthier eating and better health. One of my strategies to meet my goals is to continue to see her; basically knowing I’m going to see her I’m constantly thinking “embrace the vegetables” as she said I should really try to get more vegetables in my diet and I’ve always been a non-veggie person, not my favourite food, but I keep that little mantra in my head “embrace the vegetables” and it seems to be working (still not quite up to 2 cups a day at both lunch and dinner but at least they are in my diet now). Plus in-between appointments as questions pop into my head I know we can discuss things when I see her. ~ Liza from Winnipeg

On a Personal Note:
I was born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba and am a proud supporter of the Winnipeg Jets. I have three older brothers –one of which is my twin (yes, I’ve had my fair share of noogies). I live with my amazing partner Nick (a.k.a my adult picky eater) who understands my love for red wine and Netflix.
Favourite food: Natural peanut butter. It’s such a quick and delicious source of heart healthy fats, protein, vitamins and minerals, and can be added to so many things!!
I have played guitar for yeeeears now and have recently started to play the ukulele. Not only is it fun, it’s a great way to cope with stress!
I also play Ultimate Frisbee, practice yoga, and love to travel!
